2020 – 2021
From August 2020 to February 2021, the Kunsthalle will be focussing on the subject of Disappointment. It’s about the big disappointments of everyday life. It’s about societal disappointments. About disappointments that many people experience. About disappointments caused by politics. About disappointments that influence our lives as well. Where do disappointments change people’s perspectives? Where do they lead to something new? Where do expectations stay unmet? What is true? What is safe? What is progress? And what is it not? How does one’s perception of something change after a disappointment? Where does that lead within politics? What does it do to people? How was that in the past? How is it today? How will it be in the future? What does language have to do with disappointment? What do we think of as right? What do we think of as wrong? What role do laws play in that? Which disappointments make us angry? Which make us sad? Which disappointments do we seek to resist? The exhibitions at the Kunsthalle Osnabrück examine these disappointments. In our art mediation programme we want to talk about disappointments. Because they transform our thinking and change our perspectives. That way, something new can come out of a disappointment.
With solo exhibitions by Aleksandra Domanović, David Polzin, Jovana Reisinger, Rosalie Schweiker and Mickey Yang.
For the opening of Disappointment, there will be a publication with texts by Bini Adamczak, Helen Pritchard/Loren Britton, Anna Jehle/Juliane Schickedanz and Anke Stelling.
