Rosalie Schweiker

For Rosalie Schweiker, art is a social event. That means: she doesn’t create art for herself alone, in her studio, without any connection to others. Her art develops in collaboration with other artists and people. They communicate and work together. That’s how it is in this exhibition, too. Rosalie Schweiker knew: she would get to show her art at the Kunsthalle Osnabrück. And there is a budget for this exhibition. That means money used for the exhibition to come about. People will come and view the exhibition. Rosalie wants to share this money and that space. That’s why she did the exhibition together with others. The exhibition is about the Coronavirus crisis. The exhibition was planned during the time of the Coronavirus, and that transformed it. It consists of various art works by various people. The visitors can make a book out of it. This book is a present to all the people viewing the exhibition. Personal stories by the artists will be told. They will be told in a public space, in this museum. That way, there is a connection between the public and the private. The exhibition is called Crisis Communication. It raises questions like: How do we talk about the Coronavirus crisis? In public? And in private? Which role does the Coronavirus play in the lives of people? What changes for people with a lot of money due to the crisis? What changes for people with little money? What changes for old people? For sick people? For people with disabilities? There are many inequalities in our society. The Coronavirus highlights them. Rosalie Schweiker thinks: that must not be normal. These inequalities are the subject of the exhibition. And they are the subject of workshops by the Kunsthalle alongside the exhibition.
