Online-workshop with Joran Yonis: You know your body pretty
well. But what if you could change it? What would it look like then?
What would it be able to do that it can’t do yet? And what would this
new body feel like? In this workshop we will transform our bodies. We
will expand them. We will examine: how smoothly is my body able to move?
Which purposes does it serve? And what are the possibilities that this
body provides me with? Then we will transform our bodies. With the help
of alginate and other materials. (Alginate is a material made from
algae. You can make gel with it. It is both fluid and firm.) In a next
step we will try and learn to sense our new and transformed bodies.
Important: Before the workshop all participants will be provided with
material boxes by our delivery service. These will contain everything
that is necessary for the workshop. Let us know if you need technical
support from us to participate!
Joran Yonis is interested in bodies. Their mobility. Their
transformations. That is why this is the theme of this workshop. In his
art, Joran Yonis primarily deals with the question: what are the
balances of power in our society? Besides that, Joran Yonis works at the
University of Osnabrück. There he is currently working on his
dissertation.
