Kunsthalle Osnabrück’s annual theme is “Spirits.” The Kunsthalle has invited four experts to talk about it and share their personal perspectives. This event features Daniel Gollmann.
Daniel Gollmann is a historian and educator who focuses on memory culture. [A historian is someone who studies history.][1] He has also helped create the new permanent exhibition at Villa_ in Osnabrück’s Museum Quarter. The exhibition deals with the Nazi era, especially the story of Hans Georg Calmeyer, a lawyer from Osnabrück. Hans Georg Calmeyer is a controversial figure. He saved several Jews during the Nazi era, but he was also involved in the regime’s violence and oppression.
Since Villa_ reopened, Daniel Gollmann has been developing educational programs about the Nazi era and memory culture.
During the public tour, Daniel Gollmann will talk about the exhibition by !Mediengruppe Bitnik. The tour will also discuss what resistance looked like under National Socialism. The story of Hans Georg Calmeyer will play an important part here.
