The Kunsthalle Osnabrück has invited three experts to participate in its annual program, “Spirits.” Each of them brings their own perspective to the annual theme. Raoul Haberhauer from the “Parfümerie Pieper” has been invited to this tour. He is very familiar about aromas and essences and how people perceive them. The artist Chaveli Sifre has also been collecting scents for many years. She uses the scents to create scent installations that can be perceived with the whole body.
After a guided tour through Chaveli Sifre’s exhibition, there will be a discussion with small activities in the Kunsthalle’s education room. Raoul Haberhauer will introduce you to a brief history of smell. He knows that scents are processed in the same regions of the brain as emotions. That’s why scents often evoke memories of things that happened a long time ago. He will also bring along a small scent archive for you to try out. And he will tell you about a special perfume. It’s addictive. You can try it for yourself!
