The summer-workshop Battlefield takes place in the garden of Gabriella Hirst’s installation. It is designed to support plant growth. The focus is on the propagation of plants. We will learn techniques: grafting roses, gentle pruning, encouraging flowering, weeding and other methods of maintaining and controlling the garden. Gabriella Hirst will give a tour and talk about the history of certain plants in the garden. Participants will also be invited to share their own garden stories. In this way, the Battlefield archive will be expanded.
Over the duration of the installation Battlefield at the Kunsthalle Osnabruck, we will be running several seasonal workshops together with Gabriella Hirst and the gardeners. [Seasonal means here: The contents of the workshop always match the season]. We will share plant-care techniques and stories as entangled with the upkeep of language and history-making. There will be a summer workshop (propagation), an autumn workshop (harvest) and a winter workshop (protection).
Participation in the workshop is free of charge. The workshop will be held in English. Translation into German will be provided. Registration is required by August 17 at vermittlung.kunsthalle@osnabrueck.de. Workshop participants can take plant cuttings with them. Please bring a small flower pot for this purpose.
The visit of all exhibitions is free of charge for all workshop participants from 16:00. The exhibitions are closed during and after the workshop.
