Queer Walks are city walks to queer history, queer
stories and places in Osnabrück. The word queer is a self-designation.
For example, gay men, lesbian women, bisexual people, trans people and
inter people use it for themselves.
In which bar did the most popular women’s parties take place in the 90s?
Where do LGBTQIA drink their after-work drink today? [LGBTQIA is the
abbreviation for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and asexual]. What
happened at Raiffeisenpark on 14 September 1994? And who was Peter
Hamel? What was the role of the Department for Lesbians and Other Women
and the university’s autonomous gay department for queer history in the
city? [A unit is a department at a university.] Where could queers meet,
date and invite other queers for a drink? What role did the warehouse
play? How long has the CSD actually existed? [The CSD is a street parade
where queer people demonstrate for their rights]. And what queer places
are there in Osnabrück right now?
Eva Lause from the Kunsthalle’s art mediation team takes this tour. Eva
Lause is an artist and art mediator. It leads from the Kunsthalle
through Osnabrück’s city centre. Together we will follow the traces of
queer history and stories.
