Migrantenmutti [translated: Migrant Mum] is Elina Penner’s first non-fiction book. It is about things that don’t seem unusual at first glance: buying a school bag, keeping children at the table after dinner or using media. All these things are often done differently by parents with a migrant background, single parents or parents from the so-called “working class” than by “better-off” families. And so Elina Penner shows that parenthood is political.
