Larisa Crunțeanu’s work is called I’ll walk with you these streets, one last time. It is a sound work. So it is a work made of sounds, noises and words. Larisa Crunțeanu developed this work especially for the public space in Osnabrück.
I’ll walk with you these streets, one last time is an artistic city tour for listening. In the artistic city tour, Larisa Crunțeanu pretends to live in the future. And from this future she looks back at Osnabrück’s past. What voice are we listening to on the city tour? It is the voice of Didona. She is a princess from the time of Antiquity. She played an important role in the founding of the city of Carthage. Didona guides us through Osnabrück as an avatar. [An avatar is an artificial figure. Like in a computer game.] Didona tells stories about women in Osnabrück. About invented women and about real women.
Larisa Crunțeanu follows the waterline of the river Hase. The river crosses the city. In the 16th and 17th centuries, many women were sentenced to death as witches in Osnabrück. And they were killed in the Hase. That is why Larisa Crunțeanu tells the stories of the city about the history of the river. It shows the natural passage of time. And the man-made transformation of the city.
The work was created in collaboration with sound designer Laurențiu Coțac.
