The film programme Digitale Parasiten [Digital Parasites] deals with the boundaries between reality and virtual worlds. [Virtual means: something is not real but created on the computer.] Both are becoming increasingly blurred. The digital seems to take control over lived reality and eventually influence it. It’s about the mining of rare earth elements and its political consequences. [Rare earth elements are metals. They are mined underground. They are needed for mobile phone batteries, for example]. It is about ever-increasing amounts of data waste and the limits of storage possibilities. And also about fictitious scenarios in which one’s own bodily sensation takes place purely virtually. [This means: they are made-up scenes, scenes from the future. From a future in which feelings only exist virtually].
The film screeninig is curated by Louisa Behr and Anna Holms.
The film screening is free of charge, registration is not required.
The film screening is part of the art mediation programme for the exhibition Ihr Paket ist abholbereit (08.07.2023–25.02.2024) by Aram Bartholl at Kunsthalle Osnabrück.
