The exhibition possessed is presented by the Kunsthalle in cooperation with the EMAF festival. EMAF is the short term for European Media Art Festival.

The exhibition is about the question: What happens when countries are occupied and exploited? What was it like in the past? And how is it today? What happens when land is occupied? Or raw materials? [Other things can be made from raw materials. For example, oil or wood]. Data. Life stories. The past. What are the consequences? For nature, the body and the soul? And what do possession and faith have to do with each other? What does technology change about these questions? How does technology change possession? [Possession means: Who owns something?] And how does technology change dispossession? [Dispossession means: Someone takes away something that belongs to me and says: It is no longer yours. It belongs to me]. How can our living together change in the future? So that it is no longer only about possession, about owning more and more. And so that nature is no longer exploited.
These are the questions these artists have addressed: Nora Al-Badri, Tekla Aslanishvili, Patricia Domínguez, Vladan Joler, Pedro Neves Marques, Johannes Paul Raether, Lerato Shadi. Inga Seidler is the curator. [Curator is another word for exhibition organiser].
The artists tell stories. Stories of exploitation and dispossession. And stories about how there can be a future without dependence. How can we take responsibility and care for each other instead of exploiting each other?
