The artists Slavs and Tatars aren’t exhibiting in the rooms of the Kunsthalle. They are exhibiting in a kebab restaurant in Osnabrück. It operates just as usual. But Slavs and Tatars change our perspective on this space. They believe: mind and stomach are a union, they belong together. Therefore they believe: the restaurant should be extended. Then you will get not only food for the stomach and the body there, but also food for thinking and learning. They mix the work in the kebab restaurant with art, with poems and texts. That way they show: food and thought is equally important.
Beyond that Slavs and Tatars will transform the outdoor area of the restaurant. It will become a meeting place. In accordance with the corona restrictions. But you can meet, exchange, talk, read, and eat together. You can watch and listen to artists from Osnabrück.

The event programme with Elona Beqiraj, Adir Jan and Emrah Gökmen, Valentina Lucia, Ana Mekineli, and Stefan Tchernboc is being developed by the curators Bêriya (Özlem) Susan, supported by Hana Ćurak. The events are about these topics: What does home mean to me? Where is my home? Where is my family’s home? What culture do I come from? And in which culture do I live now? Do I long for a home? How may I show myself? Do I belong? What is normal? What pressures do I experience?
